Distractor 2009

A unique assignment for the Amsterdam Medical Centre (AMC) called for a new product to improve the current way arthroscopic surgeries of the ankle joint are performed. Space and direct control over adjustments is required to perform the job well. The distractor operates by moving the surgeonʼs hips. Movement is transferred from the surgeon to the patient. The surgeon is able to creating space in the desired direction by maneuvering the distractor. This interactive concept is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also fast to apply, safe for surgeon and patient, sterile and ergonomic.
